Fashion collaborations are just not what they used to be. It seems like nearly every designer has done one, with some of them disappointing and all with long lines and crowds. I still look forward to the launches, but I have to say I skip more collaborations these days than I used to.
Today H&M announced it’s fall collaboration with Parisian designer Isabel Marant (right). At first I was blown away and pretty excited… but now I’m trying to envision how this high end line of leathers, suedes, embroideries, and studs can translate into something affordable. It launches on November 15th, and will include clothing and accessories for women and teenagers, and even a collection for men. I’m really not sure how I feel about this but definitely looking forward to seeing the lookbook. What do you think?
There are 2 upcoming collaborations that I’m looking forward to more and worth adding to your radar if you haven’t already.
3.1 Phillip Lim for Target will launch a line of mens and womens clothing and accessories (including shoes, bags and travel accessories) on September 15th. Just last week he was awarded Accessories Designer of the Year by the CFDA, so this is definitely a collaboration to add to your calendar.
The next is launching this week on June 15th: Lancome x Lanvin and I’m absolutely loving this one. It’s a line of mascaras, eyeshadow and liner palletes, and false lashes with the packaging designed by Alber Elbaz of Lanvin. Yes, it is just fancy (and very pretty) packaging, but totally a must have for any fashionista’s makeup bag. Pre-orders started this week with only 200 mascaras available a day. They have been selling out very quickly, so put your order in early tomorrow or get to the stores on Saturday.
