Now that the Spring 2014 fashion week season is over, I put together a round up of some of the runway makeup trends that stood out to me – some very pretty and wearable, while some are only meant for the runway.
A personal favorite beauty look for me is minimalist with a pop of color on the lips. I typically go for bolder colors (red, burgundy) but the berry color at the Michael Kors show (left) is very pretty especially for someone with a fair complexion. The “watercolor” lips at the Creatures of Comfort show (right) is an interesting spin on this look (that really only works on the runway). This season had a few different takes on the standard cat eye. The smudged wing look at Derek Lam (left) is one that I may have to try out myself. Derek Lam (image via style.com), Tracy Reese (image via glamour.com), Anthony Vaccarello (image via style.com)
Glitter and metallic are always a fun and easy girly touch. The metallic gold eyebrows at Christian Dior (right) works for the runway, as it muted the face and emphasized the collection. Jason Wu (image via allure.com), Christian Dior (image via style.com)
Runways are for pushing the limit, but most designers leave that for the clothing. Going to extremes with the hair, makeup, and theatrics is rare on the runway and although not so pretty – it always makes a stand out fashion show.Vivienne Westwood Red Label (image via style.com), Givenchy (image via stylebistro.com)
