blueberry & kale superfood smoothie recipe

Now that the holiday indulging is over, it’s time to get back on track with healthy habits. Healthy can seem boring when you don’t already have a couple of tasty recipes on hand. For a long time I avoided smoothies because they tend to be at one of two extremes: high in calories with too much sugar or tasteless with too many greens. This is a very tasty “superfood” smoothie that has plenty of flavor. Because of the balance between carbohydrates and protein and the nutrients from every ingredient, it’s a great breakfast option to give you energy to power through the morning till lunch.blueberry kale superfood smoothie recipe

Ingredients (1 serving)
3/4 cup frozen blueberries
1/4 cup Greek yogurt
1/4 cup vanilla soy milk
1/2 of 1 leaf of kale
1/2 scoop of protein powder

Directions
1. Place the blueberries, yogurt, and kale in the blender. Add the milk and the protein powder on top.
2. Cover the blender and turn it to high speed (or milkshake/smoothie option depending on your blender). Allow it to blend till the blueberries are completely crushed and the kale is well blended.
3. Pour into a cup and serve.

This sounds good. I just made a similar smoothie with blueberries and kale plus:

    1 cup unsweetened almond milk
    1 small banana
    1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
    1 tbsp hemp oil

It came out smooth and creamy and sweet but not overly so.
